ABOUT
The GI Health Foundation (GiHF) and Gastroenterology and Hepatology Advanced Practice Providers (GHAPP), Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) APP & Nurse Preceptorship program aims to foster professional growth, expand clinical expertise, and promote collaborative practice within the realm of gastrointestinal health. By participating in this program, applicants will have the opportunity to work closely with esteemed colleagues in gastroenterology, gaining valuable insights and practical skills to excel in their careers.
The accredited preceptorship includes two primary phases: foundational training and in-clinic workshops.
Part I: Foundational Training
Selected community-based gastroenterology APPs will begin with a one-day foundational meeting. The foundational session will be developed to enhance the knowledge of selected HCPs who manage patients with SBS. Key agenda topics will include emerging treatment updates and review of current treatment guidelines.
Part II: In-Clinic Workshops
The second part of the preceptorship will feature a workshop at the preceptorship host’s clinic. The participants will obtain comprehensive training by shadowing the preceptorship hosts over two days. Following the foundational training, participants will be cycled through the in-clinic workshop in small groups. The workshop will be a hands-on experience with patients to learn best practices from an experienced team of SBS specialists.
